Can we talk about how real this anime depicted society? It was made in 98 and set in 2071.

Def one of my favorite shows as far as depicting THE LAND OF TOMORROW!!! is concerned. As it turns out, making everything out of electrified stainless steel is more expensive than mixing cement.
